Olli Virtanen Group

Olli Virtanen is a Helsinki-based vibraphonist, pianist and composer known for his personal yet traditionally conscious approach to music. His studies at the jazz department of the Sibelius Academy have brought him together with many stars of the Finnish and international music scene. Virtanen leads his own seven- member Olli Virtanen Group, whose debut album was released in October 2023 by the newly established Finnish label Bopcat Records, and the Olli Virtanen Quintet, whose debut album was recorded in September 2023. He has also played in the award-winning Roast Burn Big Band, the Force Of Nature Quintet, Markus Ehrmann’s quartet, and Teppo Mäkysen’s Stance Brothers ensemble. He has also collaborated with many top Finnish and international musicians, including Jukkis Uotila, Mikael Jakobsson, Antti Lötjönen, Mikko Innanen, Reiska Laine, Jari Perkiömäki, Aleksi Heinola, Jim Beard, Dana Hall and Danny Grissett. Virtanen is also active in Germany with the Simon Bremen Quartet, whose album, released in early 2023, will also feature Virtanen’s vibraphone playing.
