Pianist Olli Ahvenlahti (FI) has been one of the central figures of the Finnish music scene for such a long time that most people have already forgotten about his fusion jazz masterpiece album The Poet (1976). The material from the album found its way to several international acid jazz collections.
Olli Ahvenlahti celebrates his 75th birthday this year. To mark the occasion, We Jazz record label releases New Quintet studio album featuring new compositions by Ahvenlahti in the spirit of The Poet album. In this new project Ahvenlahti plays Fender Rhodes. He’s accompanied by trumpeter Jukka Eskola, saxophonist Joonatan Rautio, bassist Ville Herrala and drummer Jaska Lukkarinen.
