London-based composer, saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Alabaster DePlume’s roots are firmly based in jazz, but he’s also much more. DePlume can be characterized as a work of art, where music meets social poetry as his interludes are also a central part of the performance. Musically, Alabaster DePlume is also hard to define, as his music features for instance elements of spiritual jazz, British folk and Afrobeat. For this Beat poet, words are important and this is also reflected in the names of his songs, such as “Don’t Forget You’re Precious” and “I Was Gonna Fight Fascism”.
