American guitarist Al Di Meola is a living legend who’s already left his mark on jazz,, rock and world music. In the early 1970’s, pianist Chick Corea invited the 19-year-old talented guitarist to the band Return to Forever, from which Al Di Meola later left to pursue solo career. In the 80’s Al Di Meola collaborated with other legendary guitarists, John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia. This trio did world tours and released several popular albums which gained more listeners to the flamenco-jazz genre.
Al Di Meola is also a respected composer and producer who has released over 20 albums of his own and collaborated with countless musicians. In 2015 Montreal Jazz Festival granted Al Di Meola the prestigious Miles Davis Award.
This summer Al Di Meola tours Europe with his electronic band, with which he will also perform at Pori Jazz.
